A new delivery service is set to begin this week in Windsor.
Instacart and Loblaw's are expanding their partnership to deliver groceries from Zehrs and Real Canadian Super Stores. The company has already started delivering in the Greater Toronto area a couple of months ago.
Quentin Servias-Laval is operations manager for Instacart Canada. He told AM800's Patty Handysides the service will quickly bring anything and everything to your door.
"Intstacart is a service that delivers groceries and everyday essentials ... in as little as an hour," he says. "We do so by connecting people with shoppers in their area who pick-up and deliver groceries from their favourite local stores."
Servias-Laval says it's as simple as logging into www.instacart.ca or installing the app for iPhone or Android devices.
"You just select your city and your store, and right now we are available with Zehrs and The Real Canadian Super Store," says Servias-Laval.. "Add your items, choose a delivery window and then you'll have your personal shopper go and shop for the order and deliver it to your house."
The majority of Instacart's shoppers are gathered through social-media, but he says everyone is vetted and trained before hitting the road.
"We do back-ground checks as well as checking their driving record, we give them tips and tricks on how to be successful on the platform," he says. "We also organize mentor hours where we have Instacart team members go into Zehrs and talk to applicants and answer their questions."
The company is offering free delivery on the first order and an additional $20 off orders over $35 with the promo code "Hi Windsor."
Instacart launches in Windsor on Thursday February 15.
