The Great Canadian Flag Project is inching closer to its fundraising goal.
It officially stands at $277,000 but with some gifts in kind, it is closer to $300,000.
Local dignitaries and project officials were at Chartwell Retirement Home in Windsor this morning to receive more donations from the six Chartwell retirement homes which held their own fundraising initiatives.
Speaking on AM800's the Morning Drive, Project Chair Peter Hrastovec says the project is moving along nicely.
"We are going to have a PO in place, a purchase order, in the next couple of weeks and you will see this flag this spring," says Hrastovec
The 60 foot by 30 foot Canadian flag will be going up a 150-foot flag pole at the foot of Ouellette Avenue in Dieppe Park.
