A public information meeting at Mackenzie Hall in Sandwich Town will be the first for the newly chosen bridge builders — Bridging North America.
The Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority is hosting a pair of meetings, the first in Windsor on Wednesday while the second is scheduled for Thursday in Detroit at Historic Fort Wayne.
Advanced construction work is underway ahead of major construction expected to begin this fall.
These public meetings are crucial relationship building opportunities for the Authority, says Heather Grondin, Vice President of Communications at the WDBA.
"The lifespan of this bridge will be 125 years and Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority will be around for that length of time as well so, it's critically important for us to be integrated into the communities — both the host communities of Windsor and Detroit that we serve."
Grondin says the newly selected proponents will be looking for input from residents on some of the bridge construction that's underway.
"Bridging North America is undertaking advance construction work in Michigan. Some of that work will involve some road impacts, some movement of dirt and some surveying work and it's important for them to receive some input from the community on those activities."
The meeting at Mackenzie Hall is scheduled for 3pm to 7pm with presentations planned for 3:30pm and 5:45pm.
