A Windsor Catholic High School is trying to help a family affected by a tragic fatal crash over the weekend in Lakeshore.
Binh Doan-Thanh, 53 and his wife, Tran Ngoc-Thi, 48, died in a two-vehicle crash on County Rd. 42 near Elmstead Rd. Sunday at 5:30pm.
The couple had five children.
Four of them graduated from Catholic Central and the youngest still attends school and is going into Grade 12 in September.
Campus Minister Jeff Gendron says the school community has been trying to come up with a way to help the children since they lost their parents and figured the best way was to set up a gofundme page.
"Our goal is $10,000 which is $2,000 per child and it will go toward offsetting their post secondary education costs," says Minister Gendron.
Gendron has spoken with the children who are doing "as best as can be expected."
He is encouraging the Windsor-Essex community, not just those at Catholic Central, to donate if they can.
Close to 100 people attended a third prayer service Thursday evening at Ste. Phillippe and Anne Vietnamese Catholic Church in west Windsor where the couple were prominent members.
The couple is being remembered as loving people who were well liked by the parish community.
Visitation for the couple is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Families First on Dougall starting at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday.
Mike Kelic, 46, of Belle River also died in that crash.
