The future of a Girl Guides camp in Amherstburg is up in the air.
Camp Bryerswood has been hosting thousands of Guides, Sparks and Rangers for about 25 years.
Girl Guides Canada announced in June it was closing the 17 camps in Ontario, but has since allowed them to make a case for staying open.
Kathi Poupard is Chair of the Camp Bryerswood property committee.
She says up to now the camp has been paying its own way and hasn't been in deficit.
She says they've been asked to show that the operation is self sustaining and turns a modest profit.
Poupard says the camp off Texas Road is in operations virtually year round.
"From October and November, parts of December they'll be booked every weekend" Poupard explains, "and then January through April-May and part of June we're booked almost every weekend."
She says they have to have a business plan in to Guides Canada by November 30 and they will discuss it at a council meeting and in February they'll know what the decision is.
Poupard says there are other options for Guides to camp in this region, but none would be as good as having their own camp.
She is also reaching out to the community for help in future renovations and maintenance if they are allowed to remain open.
