Take advantage of these lower gas prices, because this is as good as it may get according to Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com who admits these lower prices came as a bit of a surprise.
For most of the summer, the prices hovered around $1.25/litre and now, stations in Windsor are selling gas for $1.17.
"I think you are looking at these being bottom prices for now and the reason is simply we don't know how the market is reacting to continued global demand for oil and gasoline," says McTeague who spoke to listeners on AM800's the Morning Drive.
He says the reason for the drop is twofold.
"The real reason the price came down was last week, unbeknownst to anyone or at least no one took notice really note of it, the government of Ontario's Cap and Trade finally kicked in, its elimination of that Cap and Trade, gasoline fell 4.6 cents/litre and diesel 6.67 cents/litre."
In addition, McTeague says there was a shift on September 15 from summer to winter gas and summer gas is more expensive to produce.
