This year's Gary L. Parent Labour Activist Awards have been handed out.
The Windsor and District Labour Council presented the awards to the 10 recipients Monday night at the Ciociaro Club.
The United Way received the Community Partner Award which was presented to 25-year employee Maureen Curtis.
Curtis says receiving the award means everything to the United Way.
"We've had a very long standing relationship with the labour community and we appreciate everything they've done for us and now they're awarding us so we're pretty thrilled about that," says Curtis.

Mike Kisch, 1st Vice President of Unifor Local 2458, received the Health and Safety Award which he called humbling.
"When I received the phone call from Brian Hogan, the Windsor & District Labour Council President not to long ago, I was literally speechless," says Kisch. "I don't do it for the recognition to be recognized to have my name attached to something like Gary Parent, to have Gary Parent's name and mine in the same sentence is an honour."
Rick Coronado received the Environmental award, Michelle Johnson from CUP-W 630 was recognized with the Political Action award and Tracie Edwards received the first Rolly Marentette award.
The Rolly Marentette award recognizes significant contributions to eliminate or prevent occupational disease and bring awareness to workplace health and safety issues.
