Ontario is starting to relax some lockdown rules, with certain businesses being allowed to open at reduced capacity.
A number of businesses can resume operations as of Monday including nurseries and gardening centres, but only for pick-up and delivery.
Orchard Farm Nurseries at 820 North Talbot Rd. in Windsor won't be open until later in the week, according to owner Carl Klinck.
But he's excited to help provide a safe outdoor activity during the pandemic.
"People are at home and they're very eager to do something other than watch TV," he says.
Klinck says staff will be photographing products all week to be posted online and will be trained to safely work during the pandemic.
He says it's going to be an adjustment for shoppers who like to see, feel and even smell a product at a garden centre.
"We select their tentative order and get it ready; when they pull up to pick it up they can look it over before they 100 per cent confirm it," he says. "We're just going to have to take the attitude that it's new to everybody and we're all going to do our best and be patient."
Klinck believes it might be awhile before everything is available for spring gardening.
"Some nurseries like us are going to be waiting a little bit before we're fully stocked up," says Klinck. "A lot of us were a little bit timid to bring in too much inventory for fear that we might get stuck with it."
Klinck adds they'll begin pick-up and delivery service on Saturday.
