The town of LaSalle is getting some help with its new transit system.
The federal and provincial governments have announced a $55,262 grant as part of a $200,000 investment in bus stops across the town,
The town is setting up 95 bus stops, complete with concrete/asphalt waiting areas and signage. There will also be approximately 20 weather shelters installed.
LaSalle Mayor Ken Antaya says the location for some of the weather shelters is still being determined.
"Right now we have a number of stops that are located and identified. But now what we'll do is determine whether or not the ridership warrants a shelter," says Antaya.
LaSalle Transit is currently using Transit Windsor buses to provide service in the town but Antaya says they they expect to receive the buses they've ordered in the very near future.
LaSalle Transit was launched just after Labour Day and currently provides services on two looped routes that stretch from Front Road to St.Clair College where riders can link up with Transit Windsor buses.
