A family friend has started a Go Fund Me page to assist six people that were displaced after a fire in Walkerville on Wednesday.
Charlie Conlon says he lives down the street from the Bene family and is encouraging the public to help them out.
He says there were adults living in the home along with children ranging from six-months to 15-years-old.
Conlon says the family has lost a lot.
"Basically burned up that they owned and they had nothing but the clothes on their backs so I decided just to help them out, try and get some monies raised for them," says Conlon.
Conlon says the fundraising goal is $5000.
"I mean anything will do, everything will help," says Conlon. "Whether it be five dollars or $100 like anything to help them get what they need."
The fire at the three-story duplex on Kildare Road, one block south of Wyandotte Street East caused $350,000 in damages.
The cause was listed as undetermined and investigators said the fire started on a second floor balcony.
