Get ready for a dangerous night on area roadways.
Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Windsor and Essex County as well as a wide swath of Southwestern Ontario.
Freezing rain expected tonight. A band of snow will move through the regions this evening with 2 to 5 cm of snow. the snow will change over to a period of freezing rain this evening.
The freezing rain may last several hours before changing to rain overnight.
The freezing rain is associated with a Colorado low tracking northeast across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
Slow down driving in slippery conditions, watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.
Environment Canada has also issued a Special Weather Statement advising that 5 cm of snow could fall this evening before a system bringing freezing rain that will change to rain as the temperature warms up to six celcius by tomorrow.
10-20 mm of rain is expected by tomorrow afternoon and winds will reach up to 80 km/h.
