Mental health issues, healthy eating and children's literacy are some of the topics that will be covered at a free health expo in Windsor.
Since it is a P.A Day at local schools on Friday, November 15th, Adventure Bay is hosting the expo as part of Universal Children's Day.
The local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association is setting up a display booth and will have a speaker session who will encourage children to talk out their feelings.
Hazen Jasey is a 12-year-old ambassador at the CMHA. He was feeling depressed, couldn't focus at school and wasn't happy but after talking to his parents and adults at school, he says things changed.
"I was the happiest and most confidence that I was right after I spoke that and now I'm at a new school and I'm really happy and things like that," he says.
His message on Friday will be to encourage others his age to talk to someone instead of bottling it up.
"I kinda held it in and things so when I spoke about it, it gave me confidence and I think so many kids my age might be experiencing the same thing like that, so I think it is good to have someone like me being able to share a story like that," says Jasey.
CMHA Windsor-Essex Spokesperson Kim Willis says mental health issues in youth deserves some attention.
"We know that youth of today and children are dealing with anxiety, depression, peer pressure so all those topics we will be having information on Friday," says Willis.
The free children's expo takes place form 9am to 3pm.
Universal Children's Day is celebrated annually on November 20th with a goal to improve child welfare worldwide and to promote and celebrate children's rights.
It was first launched in 1954.
