The fourth annual Lemonade Brigade fundraiser is underway in Windsor-Essex.
Windsor Essex (WE) Care for Kids Foundation hosts the annual event that has raised more than $70,000 to purchase paediatric equipment over the past three years.
"It's a great way for kids to learn about giving back, having fun and a little bit of entrepreneurship at the same time," says Operations Manager, Ashley Weeres.
With Windsor in Stage 2 of the province’s reopening framework, Weeres says stands will be allowed with proper precautions in place, but they added a virtual option as well.
"Kids can go online and set their own fundraising page ... customize it, add some photos and tell a story about why they're joining the Lemonade Brigade," added Weeres.
She says with the majority of upper level funding going to the COVID-19 pandemic, local fundraisers are more important than ever.
"The need for pediatric equipment in our community hasn't ceased to exist, the need is greater than ever because there's less funding for it this year," she says.
WE Care for Kids has raised more $8.5-million in support of equipment for paediatric programs and services at local care centres and hospitals throughout Essex County since 1997.
More info on how to sign up for the brigade can be found on the WE Care for Kids website.
