Round two of auto talks with the Detroit Three in Canada get underway Monday, with Unifor and Fiat-Chrysler beginning negotiations.
The union says it will use the recently accepted deal with General Motors as a template for contracts with both Fiat-Chrysler and Ford.
Former CAW National President Ken Lewenza describes GM's deal as a wonderful deal.
"I've reviewed it on multiple occasions, it took care of majority of the issues that were raised by our members and again was ratified yesterday with some hurdles and some questions and I understand that," says Lewenza.
He adds that talks with FCA will be tough, saying "Chrysler workers will enjoy the pattern but I also believe in the next couple of weeks Fiat Chrysler will do everything in their power to avoid the pattern. I have absolutely no doubt that Chrysler Fiat's position will be that they can't afford the pattern and the union will have to stand tall and the members will have to stand tall to maintain pattern bargaining in Canada."
The GM agreement includes a 4% wage increase and a half-a-billion dollar investment commitment.
