A former Windsor Spitfire captain is the newest member of the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff.
Paul McFarland was named an assistant coach on Thursday.
The 33-year-old served as an assistant coach under Bob Boughner for the past two seasons with the Florida Panthers.
He coached the team's powerplay which finished second in the league this past season.
Before making the jump to the NHL, McFarland was the head coach of the Kingston Frontenacs for three seasons and an assistant coach for two seasons with the Oshawa Generals.
He also won a Memorial Cup with the Kitchener Rangers in 2003 before joining the Spitfires.
The Leafs also announced assistant coach Jim Hiller has been granted permission to explore opportunities outside the organization.
