A former Windsor Spitfires captain has retired from playing professional hockey.
Mike Weber announced his retirement on Wednesday.
The defenceman spent four seasons with the Spitfires in the early 2000's before being traded to the Barrie Colts.
He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2006, going in the the 2nd round, 57th overall.
This season Weber suited up for Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League.
In an interview with the team Weber shared some of his career highlights.
"Getting drafted to the NHL was one of those, playing in my first game when I was 19-years-old in the NHL is a highlight."

He says he hopes to coach some day.
"I know I'm done with the game but I'm done playing and competing and that's a tough thing, cause that's all I've been about my whole life."
Weber says there were some sleepless nights and retiring wasn't an easy decision.
"Unfortunately I've had an injury, I tried my best to play through and to push through and it's become career ending and it's tough for me."
Weber played 351 games in the NHL with the Sabres and Capitals registering 53 points and 437 penalty minutes.
