Former Windsor Spitfire Ryan Ellis has locked up a long term deal to play in Nashville.
The Predators are inking the Defenceman to an 8-year, $50-million extension with an average annual pay of $6.25-million.
The extension is in place for the 2019-2020 season and includes a $7-million signing bonus July 1st next year.
The extension does not include a no-trade, no-move clause.
Ellis was to have been an unrestricted free agent as of next season.
The 27-year-old maintains experience on a solid Nashville blue line that includes PK Subban, Roman Josi and Mattias Ekholm.
The Hamilton native had nine goals and a career-high 23 assists in the 44 regular-season games he made after being off recovering from knee surgery at the start of last season.
Predators GM David Poile states "Ryan is a huge part of our team on and off the ice and we are happy to have his leadership remain in our locker room for the foreseeable future.”
