A former Windsor Spitfire is on his way to the Montreal Canadiens as part of a four player deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Kerby Rychel, defenceman Rinat Valiev and a second-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft were shipped to Montreal in exchange for forwards Tomas Plekanec and Kyle Baun Sunday.
The 22-year-old Tecumseh native played four seasons in Windsor from 2010 to 2014, he was selected 19th overall by the Colombus Blue Jackets in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Rychel had 30-points in 55-games for the AHL's Toronto Marlies this season.
