WINDSOR — A long-time former Windsor City Councillor has passed away.
Tom Wilson was first elected in 1985 along with Rick Limoges to represent residents in the old ward 5 — when the city was made up of five wards which encompassed the Forest Glade and Riverside area.
Wilson passed away Sunday afternoon after struggling for about six weeks with a chronic lung condition called COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
Wilson was on council for more than 20 years.
"Tom was one of those guys who was just universally loved," says Limoges. "He met people and instantly was liked by them, he never hesitated to help people. It is very sad to see him go, I think the city is much worse off now that he is not around."
Limoges says he kept in touch with Wilson as Wilson was a loyal customer at his restaurant.
"He has been coming in quite often with his friends and family so I got a chance to talk to him many times recently and it was nice and he is the same guy," he added.
Funeral arrangement have not been completed.
