Stan Ribee Parkette at the corner of Richmond and Drouillard is officially open.
It's the latest addition to the Ford City Neighbourhood Renewal project.
Community planner for the Ford City neighbourhood, TJ Auer, says the parkette is a place where people can relax and enjoy the surrounding area.
He says the parkette has already become a highlight of the community: "Everyone has had lots of positive things to say about the parkette. Many residents are looking forward to using it and you can see today part of what the opportunity this parkette brings is we now have a place for musicians to play, we can organize readings, really all sorts of community activities. Really just maximizing the community space."
Auer says the parkette would not have been done without the community's support, which would amount to a dollar value around $60,000.
The Ford City Renewal initiative began in 2010.
