Ford has announced it is cancelling plans to build a factory in Mexico and instead, will invest $700-million into its Flat Rock, Michigan plant.
The move will create 700 new jobs in Michigan where high-tech electric cars and self-driving vehicles will be built along with the Ford Mustang and Lincoln Continental.
The automaker says it will save the company $500-million.
The $1.6-billion facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico would have built the Ford Focus.
Instead, it will continue to make the vehicle at an existing plant in Mexico.
