The only local hockey game Thursday night is in the GOJHL, where the Leamington Flyers play host to the London Nationals.
The Spitfires are off until Friday, and there's no action in Essex County in the PJHL on Thursday.
The first-place Nationals lead the Flyers by four points however Leamington does have a game in hand.
Flyers General Manager, Justin Soltz says he's expecting a great game against the Nationals.
"Ya, it's always a good game when London comes to town, and it's a good measuring stick early, and it is early, and you don't win in November, but it gives us a good gauge of where we're at
and what we need to do to get better so we're looking forward to a good game tonight."
Soltz says the Flyers are tough to beat on home ice.
'We have been pretty good in the two years we've been here at home and we do play pretty tight and and don't give up a lot and we've been successful so we hope to continue that tonight."
Recently the Flyers added forward Blake McConville of the Sudbury Wolves. McConville had also played for Flyers head coach, Cam Crowder when they were with the Essex 73's.
Soltz tells AM 800 Sports they are always looking to make improvements.
"Absolutely, and you've got to look to get better everyday and we continue to evaluate our guys and look to find opportunities to get better."
Game time Thursday night is 7:10pm. at Highbury Canco Arena.
