The Leamington Flyers completed their first two games of the season in Brantford, and did so in winning fashion. They closed out the GOJHL showcase tournament with a 4-3 overtime win over Waterloo.
Leamington overcame early undisciplined play and a pair of ejections on their way to the victory.
Throughout much of the game, Leamington trailed in shots and on the scoreboard as it was 1-0 after one period then 3-1 after two periods. Shots read 28-15 in favour of Waterloo.
In the third however Leamington came out flying tying the game in a two minute span forcing the extra time.
In OT, much of me frame was spent in their defensive zone, but Leamington was quick to capitalize on a turn-over as Griffin Robinson scored on a breakaway as Leamington prevailed 4-3. Robinson finished with a goal and a pair of assists while Zach Guilbeault, Cody Schneider and Blake Bain rounded out the scoring.
The Flyers host the Vipers on Thursday night. Lasalle lost 5-2 to Listowel yesterday at the Showcase tournament, with Brandon Soto and Brett Vorshuk scoring for the Vipers.
