Flooding is on the agenda Tuesday night in the Town of Lakeshore.
The town is holding an open house to discuss its Flood Defense Action Plan and to hear from residents impacted by this past summer's flood.
Mayor Tom Bain says the head of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo, Dr. Blair Feltmate will be on hand to discuss the growing threat of basement flooding and the value of home flood protection.
"We've had a number of the residents who've been to our town council meetings requesting such a meeting so really with our expert, with ERCA, with the vendors, we hope to be able to answer a lot of their questions," says Bain.
He says Dr. Feltmate will be joined by vendors and representatives from the Essex Region Conservation Authority.
"The expert is going to be able to discuss a lot of the climate changes that are there," says Bain. "But even more important he's going to be able to outline a number of things that residents can do to help themselves to better protect themselves against any future flooding."
The open house runs from 4pm until 8:30pm at the Atlas Tube Centre.
Dr. Feltmate will speak from 6:30pm until 7:30pm.
