The Ontario government is extending the deadline for local residents interested in applying for the province's Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program.
The deadline was January 5th but is now March 20, 2018.
Back in August more than 200mm of rain fell in the Windsor-Essex region. As a result, Minister of Municipal Affairs Bill Mauro activated the DRAO program for Windsor, Amherstburg, Essex, Lakeshore, LaSalle and Tecumseh residents who qualify.
Damage from sewer backup is not eligible under the program except under special provisions for low-income households.
To receive provincial funding, qualified residents must apply on the Ministry's website.
