A flood watch has been issued for the Lake Erie shoreline, including Pelee Island.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority says strong southwesterly winds combined with high water levels raise the potential for flooding, waves overtopping, splashing and spraying and breakwall damage along the shoreline of Leamington, Kingsville, Essex and Amherstburg.
Environment Canada says wind gusts could reach 90 km/h Wednesday afternoon before easing later in the evening.
The flood watch is in effect until 12pm Thursday.
