The heavy rain and flooding at the end of August caused more than $124-million in insured damage across Windsor-Essex.
That's according to figures released this morning by the Insurance Bureau of Canada.
The heavy rain storm on August 28th and 29th dumped up to 290mm of rain on some parts of the area and left thousands of basements flooded.
"Climate change is causing severe weather events to happen more frequently and with greater intensity, especially storms involving floods. While the insured damage from these floods is significant, the total cost to homeowners and government is not yet known," said Kim Donaldson, Vice-President, Ontario, IBC.
