Calgary beat Toronto 31, ending the Leafs twogame winning streak

The Toronto Maple Leafs struggled in their first game without injured star Auston Matthews.

The Leafs lost to the Calgary Flames 3-1 in Toronto on Monday, snapping their three-game losing skid.

Nazem Kadri, who was playing in his 500th NHL game, scored the lone goal for the Leafs, who will be without centre Auston Matthews for at least one month with an injured shoulder.

Head coach Mike Babcock says the Leafs were the "second-best" team all night.
