A resident in Windsor-Essex has tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
It's the first human case of the disease in our area this year.
Most people who have the virus never develop any symptoms and will not know they have it.
About 25% of people develop a fever.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says this is a reminder that the virus is in our area and people need to take steps to prevent being bitten by mosquitos.
People ought to remove standing water around their property and wear insect repellent that contains DEET.
The health unit is not releasing the condition of the individual with the virus
