The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has confirmed the flu has arrived right on schedule.
It has its first confirmed case of influenza A in Windsor-Essex.
Last year, there were 304 lab confirmed cases, with the first case being reported on November 8, 2017.
The health unit is reminding people the best way to protect themselves is with the flu shot. which is free for people who work, live or study in Ontario.
To get the flu vaccine, people can contact their primary physician, over 90 pharmacies in Windsor-Essex and the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit community flu clinic is scheduled for Friday, November 16 from 10am to 6pm at the University of Windsor in the CAW Student Centre Commons.
