Meals on Wheels will have some extra help beginning today.
Windsor firefighters will be riding along with the volunteers who are delivering the meals to people with limited mobility.
Safety inspections will then be conducted at those homes.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer John Lee says it's to make sure those who are mobility challenged aren't caught in a fire.
"We've found it to be a good opportunity to get into some of our more vulnerable residents and check to make sure they have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms and that they're safe," says Lee.

The home safety inspections will be carried out ahead of Fire Prevention Week, which begins October 7th.
Lee says he helped set up the partnership with the Victoria Order of Nurses years ago.
"This is now the 16th year we're now attending in this partnership," he says. "It's worked out quite well and we've been able to get into well over a thousand homes over the years."
Lee says the fire crews will carry extra smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as batteries, to make sure the safety equipment inside the homes is working properly.
