Firefest is this weekend's hot-ticket in Chatham-Kent.
The sixth annual festival promotes fire-safety while showcasing antique-fire-trucks and emergency-response-units.
Event Co-chair Brent DeNure says the free event is a point of pride for organizers.
"We're a small group, we're really proud of the program we've put together and we hope as many people as possible will come and invest their time and take advantage of all the different attractions we've assembled for them," he says.
The event kicked off Thursday night with the first Canadian screening of the film Only the Brave, DeNure says close to 90-emergency-vehicles will be on display Saturday.
"We've actually got a British ambulance that's going to be participating and we've got a fire truck from Texas, one returning from Philadelphia, Montreal, " says DeNure. "It's really a nice balance of what you'd see over the course of 30 or 40-years from all over the US and Canada."
Denure told AM800 News there will be a ton-of-fun available for all ages on King St. in downtown Chatham.
"Entertainment from Firetown, which is a band made-up of Toronto firefighters doing a lot of fire-themed hits throughout the day in their bunker-gear," he says. "We've got firefighters on stilts, we've got Stan the Magical Fireman doing fire and safety awareness, he'll be a ton of fun."
Firefest lights-up at 10am and cools down at 4pm Saturday.
