A financial boost for Hiatus House in Windsor thanks to Unifor Local 444.
The union has donated more than $6000 to the 5th annual Shine The Light campaign.
Hiatus House Executive Director Thom Rolfe says the money will go along way assisting the organization which has been running over-capacity for the last year-and-a-half.
"We've turned away 142 women and 120 kids last year and we're just in the process of finishing up the business case to submit to the province for an additional shelter in Leamington for 45 beds," says Rolfe.
He says this new money will be used for programming and services.
"The primary goal of the campaign is to raise awareness and to let abusive women know that it's okay to come forward and that there are services available and that they're community supports them," says Rolfe.
The Shine The Light campaign was held during the month of November.
