The local Salvation Army is out with its grand total for the 2017 Christmas Kettle campaign.
Director of Family and Community Services Major Paul Rideout says just over $319,000 was raised exceeding the goal by $4000.
"We actually raised $319,074.47 and we just like to take this opportunity to thank those who made donations and to thank our team of volunteers for standing at the kettles for us," says Rideout.
The money will assist those in need.
"That money will stay here in Windsor and will be used to operate our food bank, our soup kitchen any type of community support that the Salvation Army provides in this city," says Rideout. "Sending kids to camp, all sorts of things."
Rideout says the campaign had its ups and downs.
"There were moments of the campaign I wondered if we would make but I believe the folks in Windsor have shown that they value us, the Salvation Army and the work that we do and they value those who are less fortunate in this community and they want them to have equal opportunity," says Rideout.
The campaign started in mid-November and wrapped up on Christmas Eve.
