The Fina 25 Metre World Swimming Championships Opening Ceremony left many Windsorites in awe Monday night.
The ceremony was centered around Canadian culture and honoured Fina and Canadian athletes.
The event featured art, live music by Juno nominated band 'The Darcys' and performances by the Motor City Dance Academy.
Mayor Drew Dilkens welcomed all the athletes to Windsor as he announced the beginning of the championships.
Richard, a Windsor resident says the show was powerful."I thought it was good diverse entertainment," says Richard. " I liked the dancers."

Airealist Felicia Maguire from the Motor City Dance Academy says it was the biggest show of her career so far.
"I Just learned how to fly about three weeks ago so I did not have much training but it was amazing," says Maguire. "I have never performed for so many people before. I love being in the air and I loved flying it was so much fun."
President of Fina Julio Maglione says he is impressed with Windsor.
"Everything is in place for a memorable celebration of swimming as many stars honour us with their presence here in Canada, says Maglione."
Opening heats start at 9:30 Tuesday morning. The Championships will take place at the WFCU Centre until December 11.
