Students from Corpus Christi Middle School's sports academies are learning about sports and physical activity.
The 41 female students are learning about hockey, baseball, soccer and gymnastics.
They also took part in workshops dealing with self esteem, social media and group activities where they can improve their confidence.
Grade 7 student Ryleigh Taggart says she wants to try new sports.
"I just want to learn how it affects girls, how sport can affect girls and how you can do things as a girl and not be scared."
Grade 8 student Kayleigh Ryan says she enjoys sports and wants to learn more.
"I want to get involved because it's a really great opportunity to learn how to coach other kids and to get involved with the other sports you don't normally do."
Kristen Hayes is a teacher at Corpus Christi.
She hopes the students stay active as female athletes.
"I hope that they're inspired by the other sports they haven't tried because they're young, they're 12 and 13," says Hayes. "I also hope that they feel inspired to stick with their sport and see where it can take them."
Central Parks Athletics hosted the event on Friday.
Sara Santarossa, a PhD candidate from the University of Windsor's Faculty of Human Kinetics, was one of the keynote speakers and members from the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association were also on hand to talk to the students.
