It was dubbed a 'holiday double header' at the Windsor Assembly Plant as workers donated to two worthy causes.
FCA Canada announced a donation of $1,249,110 to the 2019 United Way of Windsor-Essex campaign.
It marks the largest donation in Windsor-Essex and the 33rd year in a row that FCA workers and retirees have donated more than $1-million.
United Way Executive Director Lorraine Goddard says it represents 20% of its campaign.
"I think it really is indicative of just the generosity of the FCA employees and Unifor members, to support their community through United Way so we could not be more grateful."
Given last week's announcement in Oshawa that its General Motors plant was closing, Goddard says similar news here in Windsor would not only cripple the community, but its charities.
"It would be devastating to say the least, because that would mean less people would get help but more people would be in need of help."
This is the 71st year that FCA workers have donated to the United Way campaign which raises money for after-school programs, emergency assistance and to help families and individuals gain access to education and financial stability.

During the same announcement Friday morning, FCA announced workers at the Windsor Assembly Plant have donated eight Pacificas full of toys, worth $35,000, for the Windsor Fire and Rescue Services Sparky's Toy Drive.
Sparky's Co-ordinator Sean Costello says this is huge.
"Sparky's Toy Drive relies on the community's generosity and without these eight vans full we wouldn't be as successful as we are," he says. "We need FiatChrysler to donate to us to give what we give, to the community."
Costello says distribution of toys begins on the weekend.
"That's the fun time for us seeing the parents and kids faces getting these bags of toys knowing they have something for their kids this Christmas, it is very rewarding."
In over 16 years of donating to Sparky's Toy Drive, workers at the Windsor Assembly Plant have filled 90 minivans full of toys.
