Caesars Windsor has donated $5,000 to the Family Respite Services to help support their Super Saturday program.
St.Clair College is helping sponsor the program, to allow children who have learning disabilities to have a day of fun, healthy activities.
25 children will participate in the activities at the college's main campus on select Saturdays in either morning or afternoon programs.
Family Respite Services Fundraising Coordinator Alexandria Fischer says the organization offers many programs to the community.
"So, we have one-to-one support programs where a trained support provider works directly with the child and then we have community-based recreation programs," says Fischer. "Super Saturday is one of our main community based respite programs and is in partnership with St.Clair College."
Member of the Super Saturday program, Emerson Burns, says he is very thankful to have a place he can go to have fun on the weekend.
"We do fun stuff," says Burns. "We do crafts, swimming, play on the computer and I would like to say thank you to everyone for supporting us."
Super Saturday Program Coordinator Katie Lisinski says the program would not be possible without the community's support.
"It is amazing with the collaborations that exist with Family Respite and the community," says Lisinski. "This program allows the children to come to the college and have the freedom to have fun and play games. It is a great opportunity for them."
Currently, Family Respite Services assists nearly 900 families in Windsor- Essex County.
