Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
Wind chill values are expected to drop to nearly minus 30 overnight Sunday due to an arctic air mass making its way across the region.
Residents are encouraged to take the proper cold weather safety precautions and to keep an eye on the forecast.
According to Environment Canada, the cold will ease up a bit Monday, but will still be in the range of minus 20 or colder.
A milder air mass is expected to move in Tuesday bringing temperatures back up — Wednesday is calling for rain or flurries with an afternoon high of plus 2.
