The town of Essex is making it easier and cheaper to develop in all areas of the community.
Town council amended a by-law to waive commercial development charges in areas that fall outside of the existing Community Improvement Plan boundaries.
The change is designed to stimulate commercial development.
Economic Development officer Nelson Silveira says developers now have incentives in all areas including Highway 3 and the Maidstone business corrridor.
The town already has a number of grants through the C.I.P to provide financial incentives for developers to build, but it is centered in the downtown cores.
The change is in effect until August 25, 2019.
