The Town of Essex wants to buy the former Harrow District High School.
Town CAO Tracey Pillon-Abbs confirms an offer to purchase the property was submitted the week of May 8th.
Negotiations are currently underway between the Greater Essex County District School Board and the town but Pillon-Abbs can't release any other details.
She says the town received more than a dozen letters of interest from community groups that want to lease or rent space in the former school.
"I think we are up to 16 and we will always continue taking on those letters of interest any time," she says. "It does help council understand the level of involvement from the community in developing a community hub."
Harrow High School closed back in June 2016 after 112 years.
