It appears two outgoing Essex council members have buried the hatchet.
On Monday, Mayor Ron McDermott thanked Randy Voakes for his time on council.
Council held its last meeting for this term.
McDermott acknowledged the two did not always get along but said they had at least one thing in common and that's a passion for the community.
They shook hands and hugged and following the hug, Voakes said "all evil is buried."

Voakes says the two did not always see eye to eye on some council issues.
"I always maintained and I'll continue to maintain it that as a person I think Ron McDermott is a fine gentleman and I've always thought that even though some would beg to differ," says Voakes. "In terms of how we viewed things politically we differed, we differed and I'll leave it at that."
McDermott says shaking hands with Voakes was his way of putting an end to the feud.
"Like when I say something, I'll shake your hand that's my word, my hand," says McDermott.
The two have been on council together for four terms.
McDermott did not seek re-election while Voakes was defeated in ward one.
The new council will be sworn in on December 3rd.
