The mayor of Essex has low expectations for tonight's public open house dealing with the town's ward structure and boundaries for the 2018 election.
Ron McDermott feels the turnout will be low.
He says earlier this year (March & April) the town held similar public open houses dealing with the deputy mayor's seat and if the position should be voted in at large.
McDermott says those meeting were poorly attended.
"There were a total I believe of 43 forms filled out and some of those were online, people that didn't attend any of the meetings, 43 people out of 20,000," says McDermott.
McDermott says he doesn't have the exact figure but says the public meetings as well as looking at the deputy mayor's position, ward structure and boundaries is costing the town anywhere between $20,000 to $40,000.
Monday's meeting takes place at the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre from 6pm until 8pm.
A second public open house is planned for Tuesday night at the Essex Centre Sports Complex.
