It happened during a stop for impaired driving.
An Essex man has been charged after allegedly being stopped for impaired driving and then assaulting a police officer.
The OPP received a complaint of a pickup truck eastbound on Highway 3 near Victoria Ave which was swerving all over the roadway Tuesday at 7pm.
Officers stopped the vehicle and the driver showed signs of impairment.
During the arrest, the driver resisted and assaulted the officer.
