The 32nd annual Essex Fun Fest is underway.
The four day event kicked off on Thursday at the Essex Centre Sports Complex Fairgrounds.
Event chair Joe Garon says this year's event includes live entertainment, rides and games, a beer tent, a parade and fireworks.
"We revamped this festival about four-five years ago and it's just getting better and better and the people are receptive to it now," says Garon. We get people not only from the Town of Essex but from the surrounding areas and even outside of our area that are coming to it now."
Garon tells AM800 News Saturday is an action packed day.
"Saturday's a really big day for us with the parade earlier in the day followed by the fireworks Saturday night, so much for people to do," says Garon. "You won't be disappointed, you should come down this weekend."
He adds a large turnout is expected.
"We usually get anywhere between that 15 to 18,000 range so we're hoping that if weather permits," says Garon.
The event also includes a watermelon eating contest and a horshoe tournament.
The fireworks take place on Saturday at 10:05 p.m.
