Essex Fire and Rescue are extending their thanks to the Salvation Army for their help in assisting firefighters.
The Salvation Army was called in to provide support to firefighters after the fire at the Story Book Early Learning Centre on Saturday.
Members of the Fire Department spent hours out in freezing conditions with few breaks as they battled the flames.
The Salvation Army arrived at the fire hall and provided food and drinks to the firefighters.
Essex Fire Chief Rick Arnel says it was just what they needed to keep going. " They do a wonderful job and we thank them very much for coming out. Our guys surely appreciated a bite to eat and a nice hot beverage after eight or nine hours in the freezing cold."
Officer Pastor for the Salvation Army Major Sam Roberts says they were more than happy to help. "It is just a natural thing because we have done this for all existence and so while we do not have many emergencies in Essex, I have had experience before with such emergencies with fires and displaced people, so it was just normal to kick in and know what to do."
