The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs has an Essex voice on its executive committee.
Essex Chief Rick Arnel has been elected as the Executive Vice President for a second year.
The organization is a voice in government when it comes to implementing legislation affecting firefighters.
"We are that trusted person in the service and is one of the organizations that they [government] call and we represent the fire chiefs in the province," says Arnell.
He points out the organization represents fire services, both big and small from a Toronto dept. with 3,300 careeer firefighters to the town of Essex that has 63 volunteer firefighters.
95% of the 448 fire departments in Ontario are members of the association.
It provides an authoritative voice when it comes to management and delivery of fire and emergency services in Ontario.
