The town held an open house for ward one and two residents

Ward one and two residents in the Town of Essex have had a chance to voice their concerns.

On Monday, the town held an open house for residents living in McGregor and Essex Centre.

A number of topics were discussed including sidewalks, roads, lighting, the downtown core and the 2018 budget.

Faye Herman has lived in the town for 40 years.

She's worried about the number of streets that don't have sidewalks such as Thomas, Bell and Blake Streets.

Herman says the town needs to do something.

"Even if they cannot fit the infrastructure of sidewalks into the budget then at least could they make an asphalt little tiny pathway for us to walk down," says Herman.

About 30 people attended the meeting at the Essex Centre Sports Complex.

On Tuesday, a public meeting will be held for residents living in wards three and four.

That meeting begins at 7pm at the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre.
