Grass clippings on roadways are becoming an issue in Essex, again.
That's according to Ward 4 Councillor Sherry Bondy who says says the clippings make the road slippery for cars and motorcycles.
She tells AM800 News it's something that comes up every summer and with an excess of lawn clippings due to wet weather, she's hearing about it more and more.
The issue has been raised at previous council meetings, and Bondy intends to continue to push for action.
"It's also not good for our sewers and our drainage system. It's just kind of bringing that public awareness, then come along if we're still having issues and see if we can do a by-law and find some way to make it enforceable," she says.
Bondy has already had some conversations with administration on the issue.
"I believe we've brought it up enough to administration that it's on their radar too. We're just trying to see what we can do," says Bondy. "It's definitely not a lost issue."

If neighbours can't respect each other's property on their own, Bondy says the town should step in and add consequences.
"How do we enforce it? Do we have the resources to enforce it? Do neighbours get mad at each other and go throw grass in front of the other persons home? Those are some of the things we've seen in the past with by-laws," she says. "Definitely on my radar."
Bondy says the complaints have died down recently, only because things have dried up a bit, but she expects the violators to get back at it again soon.
