Essex Councillor Sherry Bondy says she has had enough of illegal dumping in Essex.
After seeing a couch along with other items dumped along Wright Rd. she's decided to take action.
The councillor has since called for a public awareness campaign on the issue.
Bondy says there needs to be stiffer fines and enforcement to help eliminate illegal dumping.
She says illegal dumping has become a problem across Essex.
"Let's come back and see where are the specific areas that residents are dumping, particularly on streets with no homes. So can we increase police presence? You maybe possibly as administration has said, set up cameras because Essex has had enough," says Bondy
She says an investigation shows many dumped items found in Essex come from neighbouring municipalities.
"We want to send the message that it's not ok to drive out to Essex and dump your garbage. Littering no matter how big or how small is not ok. Let's look at the fines. Are we fining people enough? Let's look at how we can enforce them," says Bondy.
She says she will be working with other municipalities on a plan to decrease illegal dumping across the region.
